Sprawled out across the gym floor, hands weaponed with colored pencils, 5th-grade me drafted a dozen designs for my elementary school’s competition prompt: “Create a logo for us, we’re rebranding." By creating a simple design that displayed everything the school meant to me, I had won the competition. As I grew older, I found myself paying closer attention to the design of everyday objects, from grocery store packaging to the tiniest details on websites.
As a designer, there are two areas that I especially care deeply about: how technology can be translated into a more humanistic language and how to design products that are accessible and inclusive.
One thing that fascinates me about design is its ability to completely transform a user's perception through the iterative process. Simple changes like reducing the number of clicks required to access information or altering the color scheme can greatly impact the overall user experience. I love the iterative nature of design, where each iteration builds upon the previous one, constantly improving and refining the final product. Witnessing an idea evolve into a real, impactful solution that reaches real people is beautiful.
I’m barely at the start of my journey and I’m excited to see which roads it’ll travel on!
